Story and Photos by Ed Emmons(Museum Internet Tech)

At last Tuesday's Tazewell County Museum's Board meeting, it was decided and announced that the Museum is definitely looking for a new permanent location somewhere in Tazewell County. Museum President Christal Dagit said that the Museum can wait no longer to find a larger building or suite to rent in order to house the large amount of history related material it has accumulated and cannot display because they do not have enough room.

We have storage closets full of materials that we cannot display, because we don't have enough room, " said Christal Dagit". Christal said that the Museum is looking for a permanent building or suite they can call home which has the following criteria. The building must have over 6,000 Sq. Feet and be climate controlled.

Christal said the Museum has been trying to work with local leaders in Pekin to try and secure a permanent building and funding for some time, but that nothing has been accomplished. "I would rather the Museum stay in Pekin since this is the County Seat of Tazewell County," said Christal, but maybe its time to move on."

The building must be owned by some form of local Government in order to still be eligible for grants. The Museum has been working with other cities within Tazewell County about maybe relocating out of Pekin. If anyone knows of a permanent site for the Museum please contact Christal at 347-8375.

Other things on the agenda at Tuesday's Board meeting was a report by Joyce on the Space Quilts. The Space Quilts are now at the Delavan Historical Society in Delavan.
