Karan Parmele of Mackinaw has been chosen as Volunteer of the Month at the Tazewell County Museum. As well as volunteering her time at the Museum, Karan also serves as a member of the Board. She is married to her best friend, of 52 years, Jerry.

Karan has lived most of her life in the Mackinaw area. She and her husband have 2 daughters, and 5 grandchildren. She feels fortunate that her immediate family lives close by. She inherited her love of history from her father Coil. Her hobbies/activities include: Board Member at the Museum, President of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society, gardening (vegetable and flower), church work, where she  is a member of the choir, and volunteers for Home Sweet Home Ministries.

She also hopes to find time for traveling in the future as well. If you would like to become a volunteer for the Museum, please call 309-347-8375, or 309-346-1889.
