It was a very warm day Saturday at the Mackinaw Farm Days Celebration but that didn't keep folks from coming out and enjoying themselves and looking over what vendors had to offer in the Park. One of those booths was representing the Mackinaw Area Historical Society and the Tazewell County Museum. That booth was displaying over 20 items of Good Ole Days Items. After the Parade the items were going to be explained  in detail of their uses by spokesman Bruce Walcott.

Some of the items included were: Popcorn popper, Ice Tongs, Rug Beater, Milk Bottles, Lunch Box, Butter Churn, Scrub Board, Iron, Corn Seeder, Potato Planter, Corn Dryer, Flour Sifter, Cabbage Shredder, Old Saws, Kerosene Lamp, Rolling Pin,  and a spittoon.

The Mackinaw Area Historical Society was founded after Mackinaw's Sesquicentennial ( 150th ) in 1977. Karan's father Russ Coil was active in the founding of the Society, including being President, and he helped preserve the old Train Depot.

Karan tells me that her father instilled in her the need and desire of preserving old items and places.
